Srinagar, Sep 04 (KNO): Kashmir Valley Hockey Club on Friday distributed sports kits among its registered players at Khadi Mill, Aloochi Bagh, Srinagar, as part of its efforts to encourage young hockey talent in the region.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the programme was attended by prominent members of civil society, sports personalities and well-wishers, who appreciated the club’s initiative to promote and develop hockey among young players.
He said Gurdeep Singh, President, Hockey J&K, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and encouraged the young players to work hard, remain disciplined and bring laurels to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson said the programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr Kulvinder Singh Mehta, President, Kashmir Valley Hockey Club, who highlighted the vision and objectives of the club. He reiterated the club’s commitment to promoting hockey and providing encouragement and necessary support to budding players.
The spokesperson said sports kits were distributed among the players as part of the club’s continued efforts to encourage young talent and promote participation in the sport.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Harbinder Singh, General Secretary, Kashmir Valley Hockey Club, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, members of civil society, distinguished guests and all those who contributed to making the programme a success.
